COURSE INFORMATION

COURSE INFORMATION

The H-D® Riding Academy® New Rider Course follows the proven curriculum of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) Basic RiderCourse tailored for beginner riders or those returning to the sport. There is an online 3-hour “eCourse” to be completed before your first day of class.

Learn about different types of motorcycles, their controls and operation, and the basic skills needed to prepare you for riding on the range. Interact with other students and Coaches to create a strategy for riding in traffic and deal with critical situations. We discuss how alcohol and other drugs may affect your operation of a motorcycle. Tour the dealership and get an inside look into the Harley-Davidson® lifestyle. We let you trial fit different motorcycles and explain why proper riding gear is not only designed for style and comfort, but also protection.

During three days of range time, you'll start slowly and become familiar with the controls, clutch, and throttle. Then it's on to straight-line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping. Next, progress to advanced street skills, slow-speed tight maneuvers and swerving techniques. Motorcycles are ridden on a MSF certified range closed to the public.

THE SCHEDULE

The year-round schedule consists of instructional time over 3 days. At Southern Devil, our Coaches spend more time with students than most other off-site training classes receive, giving you an opportunity to be more successful in your learning-to-ride journey.

Attendance every day, all day, is MANDATORY. Because of State requirements, you cannot miss any portion of class, arrive late, or leave early. There are no refunds or rescheduling within 7 days of your class date. (See full disclosure under 'TUITION' below.)
