Comfort and Style

The Forty-Eight Special comes with a dark custom style that balances blacked-out and chrome finishes to give it that authentic custom attitude. Turn heads while punching through traffic with split 9-spoke cast aluminum wheels that are black as night from rim to rubber and are the perfect compliment for the rest of the Dark Custom look. A 130" front tire and even bigger back tire give this bike some heft and road grip, as well as make for an awesome look. And of course, you’ll get the Forty-Eight Special iconic 2.1-gallon “peanut” fuel tank.

Some choices are about rideability over style. You want to actually enjoy the ride as well as looking good while riding, and if it’s not particularly comfortable, then you’ll probably be too focused on that than the actual ride. So the Forty-Eight Special comes with emulsion rear shock with screw adjuster to make sure you’ll have a smooth ride from start to finish. You can also upgrade your seat so it’s more comfortable, or maybe you want something that will add to your ride’s look. In fact, this ride is highly customizable so you can adjust it to fit your height or to better fit your style.

Evolution® Engine

The Evolution is a 1200cc air-cooled engine that’ll have your Sportster flying. It employs a valve train unique to the Evolution engine, using one cam per overhead valve. An engine like this needs a special kind of bike to contain it, and the Forty-Eight Special is up to the challenge. So you’ll get intense low-end torque and a blood-pumping growl with plenty of mid- to high-end power. For an added performance boost, the heads and cylinders are made of a lightweight aluminum material to improve air-cooling efficiency.

Handling and Control

A Sportster is about more than power, more than comfort and style — a Sportster also has to run smooth and give the rider all the handling they need to control such a fine-tuned beast. So the Forty-Eight Special comes with 49mm fork with cartridge dampening, featuring triple clams and fork brace. In other words, you’ll get a ride that’s quick to respond with crisp handling, no matter how difficult the road gets. Not to mention, you directly control all that power from the Evolution® engine with the Foundation brake system, not only giving you control, but confidence as well.
